Apple and I went out for dinner on Saturday night. I have to say, we had a great time, despite the restaurant we selected not quite being up to our expectations. As usual, though, the simple observations of life once again proved interesting enough to write about in and of themselves.

Battlestar Galactica Premiere

It almost snuck up on me undetected, but fortunately somebody alerted me to the fact that the new Battlestar Galactica series was starting last Friday on the Sci-Fi channel. It’s the new series that continues the grippingly dramatic story begun in the 2003 four-hour miniseries, which was incredibly good, and I’m pleased to report that the first two episodes of the series continue the unfaltering greatness.

Last night was my company’s Christmas party. I usually attend every year, although I am not really a party guy. (Okay, let’s face it. I just plain don’t “do” parties.) But we have a pretty small company and there are a number of people here I get along with pretty well, so there’s almost always somebody I can hang around and chat with for the evening.

My wife and I are just back from two weeks in Thailand! What a great time we had. Took millions of pictures (okay, more like four hundred, but who’s counting). Saw all kinds of fascinating stuff, enjoyed some truly beautiful places, and now we’re both dealing with the rigors of jet lag.

The new Knight Rider soundtrack CD by Don Peake It’s finally happened. After years of stonewalling, Universal has given Don Peake the go-ahead to release a new album of Knight Rider music. Shown here, this special limited-edition album (of which only 1,000 copies were made) is a special gift to German fans of Knight Rider, who are arguably even more rabid (and more organized) that fans here in the United States.

Wow. I’ve just been through a hurricane! Thankfully, we live far enough southward on the Gulf Coast of Florida to have been spared major damage from Hurricane Charley as it roared overhead. We actually made out really well compared to the city just 40 minutes north of us.

Nostalgic Reminisence

I’m a nostalgic old fool. Okay, “old” doesn’t exactly apply. But I do like old things, particularly things to which I can relate. Which would explain my choice of entertainment lately. During my recent rediscovery of the fine art of Wolfenstein level design, I went above and beyond the simple recollections that digging up such an old and cherished hobby naturally stirs.
