In the old days, I would replace my computer every couple of years. Since I don’t game on the PC much anymore, I’m still finding myself perfectly happy (well, mostly) with the computer I built in October of 2006. The object of my upgrade fever, meanwhile, has turned to mobile phones and game consoles, and it is these items that I now find myself replacing on a two-year cycle.

So last night I preordered my first iPhone. Yes, despite owning two previous models — the 3GS and the original flavor — each time I’ve just walked into an Apple store and bought it. Part of the reason for this is the fact that preorders weren’t even taken on iPhones until the iPhone 4 was released in 2010.

For the last week or so, I’ve been following the news of Apple’s latest generation iPhone: the iPhone 4. Since AT&T made most of the owners of last year’s iPhone 3GS eligible for upgrade immediately, I decided to go ahead and get an iPhone 4, then sell my 3GS to make up the difference.
